Just a little musical inspiration to kick off your Friday...
Have you heard the song "Look At Me Now" by Chris Brown, featuring Busta Rhymes? If not, please watch this video first and watch the words and get a sense of how crazy fast Busta puts out those lyrics... (sorry for the profanity... the second version is clean!)
Now watch this version. And pick your jaw up off the floor when you hear her do the Busta part... Famazing.
I'll Cover You Reprise from the RENT movie soundtrack (2005)
I was reminded of this song yesterday when someone asked me how many minutes are in a year (525,600). I love this version of the famous "Seasons of Love" song and you can rest assured that I'll be belting it out in the car on the way home from work today (when I'm alone of course).
In my opinion, Bing Crosby should be the Official Voice of Christmas. His songs are so warm and welcoming and just filled to the brim with Christmas Spirit.
I've been listening to Christmas songs all month and whenever one of his songs come on, I just swoon....
When a late night show skit is pulled off successfully, it always amazes me. I mean, how much time do these people really have to pull it all together and make it run so smoothly? And then to do it in one take? Genius.
This video is awesome for several reasons: #1) It's from Jimmy Fallon's show #2) It features Justin Timberlake as the guest (and I adore him) #3) The musical selection they picked is perfect!
For the record, I am extremely disappointed that I had to miss the John Mayer and Michael Franti concert here in Dallas last week. What a great couple of musicians! I would have been in acoustic heaven!
This song is a little more mellow than my St Pat's pick, but I enjoy it just the same:
Between watching Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day last night (totally bad ass, by the way), and hearing all the great Irish pub music today, I'm ready to ship up to Boston too.
...Because 4 videos in one day is clearly not enough!
This is a clip from the show Glee. I have never seen this show, but after seeing this, I might start watching it now (although I can't make any promises).
As much as I can't stand the Beyonce song "Single Ladies" I love that the choreography from the music video has become such an instantly recognizable dance. I never get tired of seeing people re-enact the video, and it is especially entertaining when it is totally unexpected (Justin Timberlake, football players, etc).
This on-field dance is ALMOST better than the bit from Remember the Titans. Note I said almost.
I love both of these artists and the song is oh-so-perfect for me right now. Please enjoy the video and the lyrics below.
Im Alive (Dave Matthews & Kenny Chesney)
It's so damn easy to say that life's so hard Everybody's got their share of battle scars As for me, I'd like to thank my lucky stars That I'm alive and well
And it'd be easy to add up all the pain And all the dreams you sat and watched go up in flames You were on, on the wreckage as it smolders in the rain But not me, I'm alive
And today you know that's good enough for me Breathing in and out's a blessing, can't you see? Today is the first day of the rest of my life And I'm alive and well, God, I'm alive and well
Stars are dancing on the water here tonight It's good for the soul when there's not a soul in sight This boat has caught it's wind and brought me back to life Now I'm alive and well
And today you know that's good enough for me Breathing in and out's a blessing, can't you see? Today is the first day of the rest of my life And I'm alive and well, God, I'm alive and well
I have recently become addicted to a Hangman phone app game, and one of the categories is States.
Well, if you're like me, and learned the song "Fifty Nifty United States" when you were in 5th grade, then you know ALL of the states and will win every game.
But in case you're not like me (or just really want to re-live the song like me), please watch the following educational video. Feel free to sing along.
"Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)" by Phil Collins
That was the number one song on the day of my birth. Want to know what song was rockin' the airwaves when you made your debut? Check it: Billboard Birthdays
If you're like me, then you can't sleep with socks on, you freakin love craigslist, and you must have music playing all day at work. For some help with the latter, check out Pandora Radio.
It is a free online radio station that will personalize the music to your taste. Just type in an artist or song that you like, and it will find similar music in that genre and play a wide selection for you all day. For FREE. And free = awesome.
This blog is nothing genius. It's not meant to answer the world's questions or help you discover a new meaning to life. It's simply here so I can share my view of the world. And by world, I mean my little world here in Arlington, TX. I just bought a new house and I'm lovin my life down here. Now I can share a little piece of it with you. Enjoy.
