Shoulda put a ring on it

As much as I HATE this song, I have to give this guy major credit for totally out-dancing Beyonce'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxKhd5O8d2Y

...and more than that, I have to give credit to my Dad and brothers for giving him a run for his money during a drunken, beerpong induced impression session! Back up dancers like whoa!

Happy New Year!

The holidays have kept me extremely busy, and unfortunately away from my blog. Boo to that. Hopefully when the dust settles and I have time to reflect, I'll put up a bunch of post-holiday goodness for you to enjoy.

In any case, I hope everyone had a wonderful 2008 and are all looking forward to an even better 2009. If you're making resolutions, good for you. Stick to it.

Here is my New Year's Resolution: Love Every Minute.
Love the people, the moments, the experiences, and the memories all year round. You only live it once, so make it worth it!!

Ok, enough of the cliche pep-talk! Everyone be happy, be safe, and have a WONDERFUL New Year's Eve!

Beer Belly for the Holidays

With so many sweets and treats this holiday season, it's easy to fall behind on your workouts and gain a few extra "holiday pounds." Even if you think you're making good decisions by avoiding the big-time belly-busters (candy, pie, chocolate, buttered everything), you could still be racking up the calories in your cup.

According to Gold's Gym, at least one-fifth of the calories you consume come from things you drink. So check here and "Think Before You Drink" this holiday season. Gold's Gym has put together a list of popular drinks, their calorie content, and how much you'll need to work out to burn it off. Makes me pretty depressed about my holiday cocktail choices already!

Cheers!

Movie of the Season

Compliments of Blitz Weekly...

12 Reasons that "A Christmas Story" is a modern classic:

12. "Fa-ra-ra-ra-ra-ra-ra-ra-ra"
11. "Don't forget to drink your Ovaltine"
10. "Nadafinger!"
9. Ralphie's pink bunny outfit
8. Scut Farkus' yellow eyes
7. "Oh Fuuuuuuuuudddgggge"
6. "Randy... how do the little piggies eat?"
5. "Fra-Gi-Le... it must be Italian!"
4. "Where's the glue?" "We're out of glue." "You used up all the glue on purpose!"
3. "I triple dog dare ya!"
2. "Alright, I'll get that kid to eat. Where's my screwdriver and plumber's helper? I'll open his mouth and I'll shove it in!"
And Of course...
1. "You'll shoot your eye out, kid!"

If you haven't seen this movie, shame on you. If you have, then you smiled at every one of these reasons and you're going to go check when the next time TNT does their 24 hour marathon showing. I know, I can't wait either.

Happy Holidays

Enjoy!

Just plug it

This time of year, everyone can get a little jealous of the power strip.

They are responsible for running so many of our decorations: trees, lights, animated decor, train displays, tacky inflatable cartoon characters people put in their yard, and so much more! They also help keep all of our new gadgets and toys running constantly so we never go through withdrawls or anything because our iPod isn't on while we're playing PS3 and searching the internet on our laptop.

I mean, every cord should have a little resentment for the Strip. But what would we do without it?

Lone Star Christmas

I went to the Gaylord Texan hotel in Grapevine this weekend to check out their free Lone Star Christmas display in the atrium. It was beautiful! If you are looking for something to do, or some cool light displays to go see this holiday season, I would definitely make this one of your stops. There are 1.2 million lights throughout the display, plus a gigantic gingerbread house, a 50 ft spinning christmas tree, live reindeer, and Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus! And again, everything is FREE!! There are also several bars and restaurants, so people of all ages can be entertained. This is "don't miss holiday spot" for sure!

Plus, if you're extra special you can check out the ICE! exhibit there too. I haven't been to that show yet, but as soon as I go, I'll report back. :)

Handmade Awesomeness

I support the handmade. In fact, my goal was to purchase everyone's gift this holiday season from the handmade version of eBay: www.etsy.com.

Unfortunately, that goal will be about as sucessful as the one I made to run 3 miles every morning. I'll do it a few times, but no way I can commit 100%. But I have purchased several gifts from the crafters on etsy already and plan to make a few more. Perhaps you should do the same...

take a look and support the handmade movement.

For the love of dogs...

**disclaimer: I try not to be negative or judge others, but this recent online discovery has made it impossible for me to not judge. I'm sorry.**

Ok, I am a dog lover. I have grown up with dogs (not like in a weird cavewoman raised by the herd kind of way) and I know I spoil all of my pups rotten.

HOWEVER, and I state this with utmost certainty, I will NEVER create a "MySpace" page for my dog. I can't believe that one person decided to do this, let alone hundreds of people that would make it necessary for an entire website to be dedicated to them: MyDogSpace.com.

Are you serious? Not only is it bad enough that you, as a human, took the time to create a profile for your dog that includes things like "Hobbies: chewing, running, digging in the yard" but I can't even begin to understand why you would think it's ok to post on other "dogs" pages with posts spoken as your pet. "I love to run outside and my mom says I have the loudest bark on the block!"

Really? You've got to be kidding me. Let me guess, you also created a profile on "DateMyPet.com". Well, let me give you a little hint- sitting around pretending you're a dog on a computer is NOT going to get you a whole lotta dates. Try coming back into reality as a human and meeting someone in the real world.

Turkey Thursday and Black Friday

Happy Early Thanksgiving!! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday- hands down, number one- so I am super excited that it's almost here. Great food, good company, 4 days of total relaxation and enjoyment. What's not to like?!

But then there is Black Friday. I mean, if you're crazy enough to get up at the crack of dawn (or often before) to go fight the crowds at some 4am store opening so that you can get your stuff for half price, then more power to ya! I, myself, can't believe anyone would get up that early on their day off! But, I know it's popular and you can get some great bargains. So for those crazy deal hunters, here is a website with a list of some of the most popular chain stores and their "Black Friday Ads" so you can plan your Friday shopping spree:

http://www.black-friday.net/

And for a bit of trivia, do you know why the Friday after Thanksgiving is called Black Friday?

It's because store's earnings are always in the Black (profit) instead of the Red (loss). Pretty interesting...

Protect your stuff

Another lead from Cyril Huze's blog...

Protect your stuff with the same materials used to protect us in our cars everyday: rubber tires.

A company called TREAD recycles old tires from South America and uses the materials to create lap-top bags, cell phone protectors, and camera cases. If I invested a lot of money into an iPhone, I would definitely invest in a case to protect it.

Check it out and see what you think: http://www.tread.com/web/

Hooded sweatshirts have never looked so good

One of the most beautiful men in my "Top 5" is Wentworth Miller, aka Michael Scofield from Prison Break. (If you are unfamiliar with the whole "Top 5" concept, please ask. It's something you need to know.) He is such a hot bad-ass and I love to watch him every Monday night.

So Happy Monday Everyone! Here's a little eye candy for the ladies ;-)

Good and Cheap

If you're looking for a good mexican restaurant in DFW, you don't have to look far. I've already shared my passion for "Fresco's" over near Watauga and of course you can always count on "On the Border" to be there when you need it. But if you're craving good, fresh, CHEAP mexican food and Taco Bell just isn't going to cut it, try Rosita's.

Their location leaves something to be desired (unless you work at Elliots, BWC, or in the hospital district) but their food does not disappoint. I read some reviews before I went and agreed with every positive remark. The staff was fast and friendly, the food was delicious, and I left feeling more than full for under $5. It was a great day.

I highly recommend the "Margarita Nachos Supreme" if you like the pile-on-and-mix-it-all-up-into-unidentifiable-goo kind of nachos like I do. Yum.

Red Box, My Love

So I have a new obsession. Well it's really an old obsession with a new twist.

MOVIES!
I LOVE movies. I love horror, animated, comedy, drama, chick flicks, action, and pretty much anything except sci-fi. I constantly dig through the bargain bins to find old and new movies that I can't live without. I'm a sucker for the 2 for $20 deal at Blockbuster. But now I can watch them all for only $1/day!

Enter: Red Box DVD Rental.

It's a great concept really. You pick the movie(s) you want at any Red Box location. You only pay $1 per day that you have the movie. Then you return it to any Red Box location you want. It's like the public library of movie rentals! (and if after 25 days you still haven't returned it- don't worry about it! It's yours to keep!)

I'm in love.

Feelin' Hot, Hot, HOT

So I'll admit it. I am a very regular Buffalo Wild Wings customer. I love it there. The wings are good, the beer is cold, and our new 2-story location (a transformed Don Pablos) has approximately 80 flat screen tvs to watch up to 11 different things at once! Not to mention the entire first floor is non-smoking and the upstairs has an outdoor patio!

So naturally it was the best place to catch the mavs game, the election, and 40 cent wings all at the same time on Tuesday night. It was perfection.

Unfortunately, my excitement for the evening got the best of me and I convinced myself to try 7 different wing sauces over the course of the evening. Those sauces included: Parmesean Garlic (awesomeness), Medium (classic), Spicy Garlic (spicy awesomeness), Asian Zing (name says it all), Caribbean Jerk (got a kick to it), Mango Habenero (afterburn like whoa), and Blazin (out of control hot!!). Luckily the last two were only "dip your finger in the sauce" kind of tastings and not full on "eat several wings doused in sauce" samples.

As good as all of those flavors were, I would NEVER suggest for ANYONE to do as I did and try that many sauces in one sitting. My stomach hated me the entire next day, which really detracted from the overall experience. However, I did discover a new passion for Asian Zing so I guess all is not lost. Perhaps next time you make your way to your local BWW, your curiousity will get the best of you and you'll have a similar stomach-turning experience! :)

All for the kids

A HUGE thank you to everyone who bought a ticket for our Dallas Cowboys Charity Raffle Bike. We sold tons of tickets and ended up raising $32,000 for the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children! It was such an honor getting to present them with the check and we can't wait to raise more and do it again!

Don't Vote.

Don't worry. I did vote. And I can't wait until this election is over. But I just really like this ad and I'm impressed with all of these Hollywood figures using their influence for a worthy cause instead of just making people sad that they can't live their fabulous life. So go ahead, don't vote.

Cook-Off Champ

That's right. I am the Shoal Creek Chili Cook-Off Champion.

Oh sure, there might have only been 3 entries. Ok, you're right- one of those entries was disqualified. Whatever. So there were still 2 of us! And I still beat the other person! So that makes me the Champion! And I'll take that title any day :)

The coolest thing about the whole competition is that I made up the recipe myself, so I'm pretty proud. If you would like the recipe for my "Award Winning (ha) Southwestern Three Bean Chili" just ask. I'm happy to share.

Weird wake-up call

So I was walking my dog yesterday morning and over by one of the bushes I noticed a plastic container turned upside down. It looked like one of those tunnels you put in a hamster cage. I walked past it the first time, just glancing quickly.

"Wait, was there fur under there?" I thought. "No way. I must not be awake yet. There definitely wouldn't be an animal under that plastic thing. Who would leave their pet rodent outside overnight?! It's freezing out here!* "

So I ignored it and continued on the walk. However, when I returned to the location at the end of our route, I decided to take a closer look.

Yes. There was definitely a guinea pig under that container. And the container was placed in a way so that the entrance was blocked and the g.pig couldn't escape.

What in the world?! Who would put their guinea pig outside? Was this the last straw for someone annoyed at the noise? Was this a horrible prank between siblings? Or was someone seriously "walking" their little rodent?

I don't know the answer, but I do know that it was one of the strangest things I've seen at my apartment complex so far. And that says a lot.

*"freezing" is relative to your geographic location. In Texas, it was damn cold.

She's not YOUR BFF...

But she could be Paris Hilton's!

Miss Strokers Dallas 2008 (recently crowned at our Anniversary Party) is currently one of the contestants on MTV's new show Paris Hilton's New BFF.

Corrie Loftin is a popular model and bikini babe here in Dallas and she's a favorite of Strokers! She has placed in the Top 3 for every contest she's competed in at Strokers and has won twice.

Watch her on MTV and think of us.

Carve it up!

I love carving pumpkins.
2 years ago I carved the Strokers Logo into a pumpkin- no stencil and using only a steak knife. That took skill. (Of course I have no pictures to prove it)
Last year I carved an entire "haunted scene" on my pumpkin. Again, no stencils and using minimal tools.

This year, I've gotta get creative. Any ideas? I'll take 'em.

For ideas of your own, check out http://www.extremepumpkins.com/

Your Sound Alternative

So I've gotta give props to the station that started me in the radio biz. (Not that I'm actually IN the radio business now, but I was. for a year. sort of. whatever.)

WGRE is a great student-run station at DePauw University. It is constantly rated one of the best college stations in the nation, despite being located at a small liberal arts college in Greencastle, Indiana.

You can show your support for the station, and for my past, by voting for them in the MTV Woodie Awards. They've made it to the top 5, so that ain't bad.

VOTE. It's not that hard.

And then there was one.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, it's hard to believe how much damage a little wind can cause. But when that wind picks up momentum and begins to spin at about 100 miles per hour over the open water, it can do pretty much anything it wants to! Including flood, or destroy, entire towns.
I was planning to take a trip down to Galveston Beach before the end of the summer to enjoy the restaurants and views from the Sea Wall. Looks like that trip will have to wait for quite some time now. This is what much of the coast looks like now.

Can you even imagine? Everything is gone.

Except this one house.
Makes you wonder who that lucky person is...

...and if they're really all that lucky afterall.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by Ike.

"...We Promote Saving Money."

And I love you for that, DrinkPrices.com!

Thank you for making it easy for me to look up the drink prices at area bars and find out where I can get drunk while spending the least amount of cash. Also, thanks for allowing me to register for free and gain points by posting drink prices at my favorite places. That's so nice of you. I will be sure to tell everyone I know to visit you at http://www.drinkprices.com/ and find out where they, too, can go get drunk on the cheap.

Welcome Weather

I know that I say I prefer warm weather to cold, but today I woke up smiling because there was a chill in the air and I was wrapped up all cozy-like in my bed.

I had slept with the window open and was feeling very well rested. It was the perfect morning weather and it actually made me smile. I guess you can call it the first sign of Fall in Texas.

Don't worry, I won't get too excited. Fall only lasts about a week down here anyway. (and it looks nothing like this picture)

Gate 1: Secure.

I admire people who take their job seriously. They have a passion for what they do and they do it to the fullest.

Unless, of course, that passion gets in the way of something I am trying to accomplish. Like today. I was simply trying to raise some money for charity, but Mr. "I'm-the-boss-of-gate-one-and-no-one-gets-in-without-a-parking-pass-even-if-they're-not-parking-in-a-spot-and-it's-7-hours-before-game-time" made that task incredibly difficult. Maybe it's the excessively long name I just gave him, or maybe it's the fact that every other person in line was probably trying to get in the gaet without a pass, but seriously man. Come on! We're just trying to set-up a bike and sell some simple tickets. I know you're watching your gate, but let's look at the big picture here. Is this one motorcycle really going to hurt anything?

Luckily Miller Lite came to the rescue and everything was solved. The bike got in, we sold tickets, and everyone was happy. (Except that guard, who eventually came looking for me to kick me out. Oh well. The rest of us were happy at least.)

You can take a look at this controversial bike (and maybe buy some tickets) at www.strokersdallas.com.

...the end has come.

Well, it had to happen eventually.

I guess I'll just come right out with it: I am no longer on-air with The Texas Hardtails Scooter Show on Live 105.3.
Sad, I know.

It's not that they don't want me anymore, or that I don't want to be there anymore, we've just grown apart. Actually, they're changing formats a bit and I'm getting super busy at work, so we all figured this was a good time for me to part ways.

I'm ok with it. Really. And you can keep listening to the show, it won't hurt my feelings. In fact, listen every week and send in texts asking where I am. That will make me smile :)

You can listen to the shows online at www.Live1053.com.

Rock the Vote

While it's important to vote in the national election, it's equally important to vote in Ride Texas Magazine's "Best In Texas" issue.

Here is the link for the 2009 ballot: http://www.ridetexas.com/BestInTexas/2009/BITLandingPage.asp

Use your power.
And if you need any help knowing who to vote for, I can help you out.
(Hint, it starts with "S" and ends with "trokers Dallas")

And your little dog, too

I watched the show "Greatest American Dog" for the first time last night. I almost changed the channel because, well, it's probably not the "Greatest American Show" on TV. But then, something changed my mind. A huge elephant.

Check out the bravest little dog I've ever seen:

I don't know about your dog, but Jack certainly would NOT just sit there and let a gigantic elephant get that close to him. And none of the other dogs on the show wouldn't either!

This little pup didn't move or even bark at it once! Amazing.

Watch the full episode here (if you really care that much): Greatest American Dog

What's for breakfast?

I was inspired by my ipod on my morning walk today...

Starfish and Coffee, Maple Syrup and Jam.
A Butterscotch cloud, a Tangerine, and a side order of Ham.

And if you set your mind free baby, maybe you'll understand
starfish and coffee, maple syrup and jam.

Apartment for Rent

It's really nice. 1 bedroom. 1 bath. Third floor with a great view of the parking lot. Comes with hyper dog (requires 3 walks a day, minimum), a fridge full of condiments, lots of DVDs, and a full washer and dryer.

I'm putting it up for rent because I now live at work and would rather not deal with the commute.

Here is a short list of reasons I now sleep on my office floor:
-Big Dogs of Dallas SPCA adoption and fundraising event (Aug 30)
-Free Pizza Thursdays (Every Thursday starting Sept 4)
-Weekly Lingerie Contests (Every Tuesday, pending sponsorship)
-Hot Summer Nights Classic Car Show (Sept 13)
-Hot Rod Cruise Night (Every Saturday night starting Sept 20)
-Upcoming Strokers 13th Anniversary Party (Oct 10-12)
-Live Fest: Battle for Dallas (Battle of the Bands at Strokers Ink, Nov 8)

Just a few things to do before now and then... I'll be here if you need me.

Legal at 18. Almost.

If an 18 year old can vote, smoke, serve in the military, serve on juries, and marry another adult without parental consent, then why can't they drink?

Should the drinking age be lowered from 21 to 18?

The debate has surfaced again... we'll see if it goes anywhere.

Flutter By, Butterfly

Anyone in the DFW area should make plans to attend the Northeast Tarrant County Kiwanis Butterfly Festival on September 4-7th! It takes place in Southlake Town Square and it is going to be amazing!

Hundreds of butterflies, tons of great raffle prizes, and a huge release on Sunday at 5.

Be there. I will.

Shoulda been a chef...

My high school French teacher always thought I would be a TV chef.

Perhaps I should have listened to his advice and followed in those footsteps. Seems Rachael Ray earns approx. $18 million per year and lovely Paula Deen makes about $4.5 million.

All of that and a dash of EVOO and I think I'd be good to go!

Talkin' Texan Catch Up

Here are the "Talkin Texan with Meghan" segments from the past few weeks.

Talkin Texan with Meghan: July 27th

Talkin Texan with Meghan: August 3rd

Be sure to log on to http://www.live1053.com/ to listen to the full episodes. August 3rd we interviewed Paul Sr. and Paul Jr. from Orange County Choppers. Man are those guys busy!

Plus, if you've got suggestions for other words I should be using, send them my way! I'm always in need of some more ideas! :)

Back at it again

Hey Y'all.

So I've been gone in Sturgis for the past 2 weeks. That meant no internet, (heck- no computer!), no phone, and basically no means of communication with anyone outside of the Rally except by snail mail! So obviously, that means no updates to the blog.

But we're back at it again. Overall our trip was a success, with just a few minor mishaps (big fines at the weigh station, flat tire on the trailer, exhaust burn on my leg, pulled over for illegal ape hangers, stuck on the bike in a lightning storm, surrounded by buffalo in the state park, engine light on the truck, etc). Traffic was a little down this year but we didn't notice too much. We met a lot of very interesting people and had a great time. I'll be posting some pictures in the next few days as I get unpacked and re-organized!

Talkin' Texan, a lot.

They ganged up on me! Rick thought he'd be tricky and make me have multiple phrases ready for this week... without telling me about it! Listen and see how it goes...

Talkin' Texan: July 20

...and that wasn't all! They pulled it on me again later in the show. Guess I'm going to have to be even more prepared for next week! It's on, Mr. Fairless.

Visit http://www.live1053.com/ to listen to the full show on podcast. It's a good one.

Google It Mo-Fo

Did you know you can google from your cell phone?
Oh yes, you can.

If you're looking for information on a business, just create a new message with the info you seek, including business name, city and state.
example: Pizza Hut, Bedford, TX

Or, if you're looking for the price of a certain item (to reduce impulse shopping and ensure you're getting the best deal), create a message with "price" and the item you want to know about:
example: price, Nintendo Wii

Then text it to 466453 (GOOGLE)

You will IMMEDIATELY receive a text with the info you seek. Either all business locations surrounding your requested location (with address and phone number information), or a list of products and their prices available online. (Just be specific or you might receive a long list that consumes the content of several incoming messages!)

Best of all: ALL OF THIS IS FREE! (as long as you already have a texting plan)
Believe me, I used this service all weekend and I love it. It's well worth your time!

Talkin Texan: Double Feature

Lee was gone last week, so I never got my "Talkin Texan" clip from him.

So lucky you, here are the clips from the last two weeks:

Talkin' Texan with Meghan: July 6th

Talkin' Texan with Meghan: July 13th

Yee haw y'all!

Get them while they're hot! (or not)

We just got the new posters in for our radio show:
The Texas Hardtails Scooter Show with Rick Fairless.

Call in to the studio during our show (Sundays 5:00pm-7:00pm CST) and tell them you want one! We'll send it to ya for free!

(I wouldn't make you pay for a picture of these 2 dumbasses!)

I'm surrounded!

...By playboy models!!

We have so many playboy models here at Strokers, it's kinda ridiculous!
Google them and you'll see (seriously, you'll see EVERYTHING):

Sheena Lee (beer tub girl, Tues/Thurs bikini/lingerie model)
Debbi Davids (Miss Sturgis, celebrity beer tub girl, Rick Fairless fan)
Corrie Loftin (Miss Strokers Dallas, bikini contest regular)
and soon to be:
Debbie Beal! Congrats to her! (Texas Hardtails cast member, longtime Strokers employee, beer tub girl, Tues/Thurs bikini/lingerie model)

get a handle on yourself

or on your beer!

I originally saw this posted on Cyril Huze's blog (a GREAT source for motorcycle news- check it out when you get a chance) and agreed that this idea is ridiculous! The Beerhandle.

Please tell me you have a better use for your money- like spending it on another beer!

The internet is for porn

...at least according to Avenue Q!

I saw this musical last night and have never laughed so much inside a theater! This video sucks, but you get the idea... It's like Sesame Street on crack! You should definitely see it if you get the chance.

with no handlebars

Epic.

Can't wait to see them live. House of Blues Dallas anyone?

Open Pandora's Box of Music

If you're like me, then you can't sleep with socks on, you freakin love craigslist, and you must have music playing all day at work. For some help with the latter, check out Pandora Radio.

It is a free online radio station that will personalize the music to your taste. Just type in an artist or song that you like, and it will find similar music in that genre and play a wide selection for you all day. For FREE. And free = awesome.

Me No Talk Texan

Sorry all, there is no "Talkin Texan" clip this week. We had a "Best Of" show on Sunday because Rick and Joe T were both out of town.

Sorry to let you down. That just means all the better for next week!

Talkin' Texan: June 22nd

Here is the clip from our June 22nd show.
Rick tried to pull a fast one on me by doing it early in the show.

Little does he know that I have TONS of material prepared! I'm ready for it everytime!

Introducing the Strokers Bikini Team. 12 girls, 12 bikes, and not one of them is me!

Talkin Texan: June 15th

Here is the "Talkin Texan with Meghan" clip from last week's show!

Excuse the bad reception, I was in the Chicago airport on my speaker-phone-only-cell-phone. (I know, I need a new one!)

iRobot, motorcycle-style

Check out this crazy motorcycle: Travertson Motorcycles.

We're supposed to be getting them at Strokers soon. It looks like something you would see in a futuristic sci-fi flick!
I so want to go on a test ride with someone on one of these! ...although I'm not sure if you can even have passengers on this thing!

I Salute You, Uncle Sam.

Strokers is getting ready for our Annual 4th of July Party, and this year we're combining it with the Strokers Ink 1 Year Anniversary.

We'll have our traditional Bikini Contest, plus our now infamous "Bad Tattoo Contest" and Rick's Garage Sale all weekend.

Listen to the radio commercial I recorded "in Texan" (and don't judge me too much!)

Hope to see you there! It'll be an All-American Biker Bash :)

Everyone's Gone Country!

First it was Jewel (not surprising), then it was Jessica Simpson (just trying to find what she's good at) and now...

It's SNOOP DOGG!!

Check out his new country song "My Medicine"

been away for a while...

I know, I know. I haven't been keeping up like I should.
But that's what happens when you're on vacation.

For the record, I did make the jump. And I survived.
(Pictures to come soon)

For anyone who wants to know what skydiving is like, just try it. I dare you!
It's amazing though, actually very calm and quiet up there (after the "5,000 feet in 30 seconds" free fall that is!) I loved it and I would do it again if you came with me!

Up next for the DeFreeuw Big Adventure: White Water Rafting in West Virginia.

..."but I won't do that"

"Talkin' Texan with Meghan"

So we started our new segment on the radio show yesterday.
It's called "Talkin' Texan with Meghan" and it includes my weekly Talkin' Texan lesson.

This weeks phrase: "wichyadija"
Use in a sentance: (pilot asking my dad) "Ya'nt bring your own 'chute wichyadija?"

I will soon be posting sound clips from each week so that you can hear the segment in case you miss the show. Or if you just need to brush up on your Texan. It will be greatness.

NEW: SOUNDCLIP: Click here to listen to this week's "Talkin Texan" clip

to live another day...

Well, it didn't go down as planned (literally).

We were all psyched up to do the "big jump" yesterday, and unfortunately the winds of nature had another plan. Only my dad and Big Rob (as I've decided to call him) were able to skydive. They both had fun, despite the haphazard landing! (pictures coming soon) As for the rest of us, well I guess we get to live another day and will have to re-schedule for later this week.

But mark my words, I will jump before I leave Indiana at the end of the week. I've worked myself up too much not to!

who's with me?

anyone out there going to Sturgis?
anyone have tickets to see Kenny Chesney?
or for that matter, tickets to any good bike week concerts?

I'm totally down for seeing Kenny Chesney "rock" at Rock N' the Rally... so let's go!
(of course that means you buy and I'll pay you back with my ever-improving country accented sing-along voice. no refunds.)

Think Before Ink

If you think you've seen the worst, you haven't.
Unless you've already been to this site, and then you probably have.

Have you seen the WORST TATTOO EVER!?!?!
Hopefully none of you are featured on this site.
If you are, sorry boutcha!

(Beware. VERY graphic material on that site. But it's like a train wreck- you gotta check it out!)

swap this

Wouldn't it be great if you could trade all the old stuff you don't want any more for new stuff you do want? Wouldn't it be better if you could do it all for (almost) free?

Well good thing you can. Check out swaptree. You won't be sorry.

I'll take a Hummer Jump on the Rocks

We interviewed Robbie Knievel today while he's in town for his big "Hummer Jump."

Yes, that is a Jack and Coke in his hand.

And yes, that makes him my favorite guest so far.

love me some queso

Fresco's rocks my world. They have the best queso this side of DFW. I swear.

Try the #1 chicken quesadillas and the swirl margarita. And tell them I sent you.*

http://www.frescosmexicanfood.com/index.html

*telling them I sent you will not actually get you anything. except maybe a weird look since they probably have no clue who I am.

Father's Day is coming up quick

Here's a gift idea for father's day. Well, if your father likes motorcycles I guess. Or if he wants to impress ladies like Sandra Bullock.

Give him Jesse James' new "Dopp Kit" from Kiehl's

The kit includes: Facial Fuel Energizing Face Wash, “White Eagle” Ultimate Brushless Shave Cream, Ultimate Man Body Scrub Soap, Facial Fuel Energizing Moisture Treatment and a deluxe sample of Ultimate Strength Hand Salve. It retails for $66 and all comes in a West Coast Choppers logo case.

It only takes 30 minutes

Rick just got back from his Chump Trip and he bought me a present.

It's a book called "Speak Texan, in 30 minutes or less" by Lou Hudson.

Guess I better get started!

In Red-Pen Form

This is Rick's perception of me:

At least I don't have a big round stomach like the rest of his drawings!

Texan Vocab

My expanded "Texan Vocabulary" so far...

"Y'all" as opposed to "you guys"
"I'm fixin' to..." instead of the ever popular "I'm going to"
"I seen him..." Oh, that's weird. I thought I SAW him, but I guess I was mistaken.
"Thanks" as in "Rick thanks I'm gonna use that hula hoop, but he's wrong"

Everything else is just spoken at a much slower pace 'round here.
That's a skill this fast-talkin' Yankee is far from mastering.
